Tips For Working From Home With Cats

April 16, 2020
Tips For Working From Home With Cats Have you suddenly found yourself working from home due to the coronavirus? If you have a kitty, it’s probably safe to say that your pet won’t mind having his or her human around more than usual. Of course, finding yourself with a feline coworker can be a bit challenging. Here are some tips from your local vet on working with a kitty. Adjust Your Screen Lock Time Cats love finding warm napping spots. If you get up for something, you may find Fluffy sitting or sleeping on your keyboard when you get back. Set your screensaver to turn on quickly when your computer goes idle. 30 seconds is a good option. This will (hopefully) help keep your pet from deleting, ruining, or posting things while you’re gone. Make A Cat Trap Is Fluffy continuously walking back and forth across your station, or sprawling out on your desk? Put an empty box on or near your desk, and tell her to stay out of it. Most cats will immediately jump into the box, and then look at you smugly. Problem solved! Avoid ‘Catastrophes’ Kitties, as you may know, love to knock small things off desks and tables. It probably isn’t a huge issue if Fluffy smacks a pen onto the floor. However, you definitely don’t want her knocking your drink onto your computer! Use bottles or cups with lids or caps, and keep them closed. Set a Schedule Our feline pals are definitely creatures of habit. If you watch Fluffy closely, you’ll notice that she follows her own kitty schedule for naps, meals, playtime, more naps, and cuddles. Follow your furry pal’s lead, and try to stick to a set routine as much as you can. Be sure to include kitty playtime in your daily agenda! Inspiration If we know one thing about cats, it’s that they certainly love their beauty rest. Take a cue from your drowsy little pet, and make sure to get plenty of rest. This is important for both your mental and physical well-being! Cuddle Time The coronavirus is both scary and unprecedented, so it’s normal to feel frightened, anxious, and/or down right now. Snuggling up with a purring cat can be very soothing at times like this. Take regular kitty cuddle breaks! Our community is all in this together. Please reach out to us if there is anything at all that we can do to help. As your local animal clinic, we’re here for you!
