Cute Ways to Spoil Your Dog for Pet Appreciation Week
June 1, 2016
Did you know that June 5th to 11th is Pet Appreciation Week? Of course, we think pets should be appreciated every week. After all, our furry friends truly enrich our lives with their love and loyalty, and keep us laughing with their adorable antics. That said, this is a great opportunity to pamper your canine buddy a bit. Below, an Ellicott City, MD veterinarian lists some fun ways to celebrate this special week with Fido.
Toys!
One sure way to brighten up your furry pal’s day is to offer him a new toy. You can find some super cute doggy toys online or in stores. Or, go the DIY route: make a rope toy out of an old tee shirt by cutting the shirt into thin strips and braiding them together. Presto! Instant tail wags.
Playtime!
Man’s Best Friend is very playful and active, especially when he’s young. Indulge Fido with a fun session of fetch or tag.
Adventure!
Our canine buddies love to explore new places and conquer new patches of grass. Take Fido on a fun outing to a doggy park, or try a new trail. Or, bring your pooch to a dog-friendly café for a special treat.
Naps!
All that fun can really tire a pup out! Consider getting your furry friend a new doggy bed. Senior dogs and large breeds will appreciate the extra support of an orthopedic bed, while little pooches may prefer bolstered beds.
Veterinary Appointment?
We know, we probably wouldn’t score very high in a poll of Fido’s favorite things. However, regular veterinary care is definitely in your canine buddy’s best interests. Most dogs should see the vet at least once a year, though some pooches may need to come in more often. If your pup hasn’t seen the vet recently, contact us today for an appointment.
Treats!
Few things get Fido more excited than the prospect of a yummy snack. Treat your pet to some doggy ice cream, or give him some plain, cooked chicken or beef, without the bone. If you like cooking, you can also get your furry pal’s tail wagging by making him some homemade doggy treats. Look online for great ideas. Just be sure to choose ones that use dog-safe ingredients.
